Transdisciplinary 15-point Requirement Course Structure

The foundational Transdisciplinary 15-point Requirement Courses will follow a structured model. This structure ensures some consistency of learning outcomes and experience while giving staff the flexibility to develop content and assessments pertinent to their proposed theme, which focuses on a complex societal issue.

Students will enroll in one Transdisciplinary 15-point Requirement Course.

Ideally, students will enrol in a Transdisciplinary 15-point Requirement Course in year 1 or 2 of their undergraduate study. In some instances, students enrolled in conjoint degrees or double majors with inflexible requirements will need to enrol in a Transdisciplinary 15-point Requirement Course during their third year.

The Transdisciplinary 15-point Requirement Courses will be limited in number and only offered subject to the approval of a proposal.

The suite of TRCs offered will also align with the four University of Auckland priority areas:

  1. Addressing the transition to sustainable ecosystems
  2. Improving health and well-being for all
  3. Advancing just, cultured, and diverse communities
  4. innovating contemporary, distributed, and secure knowledge systems

Each TRC will align to one or more of these areas.
