Transdisciplinary 15-point Requirement Courses 

The world is facing a convergence of crises – or complex issues. The complexity of these issues means they cannot be addressed by individuals, single governments or single disciplines. 

The foundational Transdisciplinary Requirement Courses (TRC), that will meet the 15-point transdisciplinary requirement are a transformational flag-ship suite of 100-level courses centred around a complex societal issue that will enable students from the beginning of their university education to develop the necessary skills and mindset to respond to complex societal issues, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).

The Transdisciplinary Requirement courses will initially be the only offering that will satisfy the undergraduate 15-point transdisciplinary requirement.

The Transdisciplinary 15-point Requirement courses will offer relational, cohort-based learning that enables students to engage with complex societal issues from diverse and novel perspectives.

Disciplinary knowledge may contribute to course discussions, but the complex issue acts as the context for collaboration, discussion, analysis, and the development of foundational transdisciplinary capacities. Rather than asking students to ‘solve’ complex problems, the foundational Transdisciplinary 15-point Requirement Courses will focus on the development of a transdisciplinary mindset.
